The Ugly Asian Duck Taipei

Taipei (officially Taipei City) is the capital of Taiwan. China continues to view Taipei as the provincial capital because Taiwan sees Taiwan as an apostate province rather than a separate country. About 2.7 million people live in the city. Taipei is not the largest city in the country, namely New Taipei City, which completely surrounds Taipei.

Before Taipei became the capital city, Tainan, which was founded by the Dutch, was the capital city. Only at the end of the 19th century did Taipei become the capital.

This city was also called the ugly Asian duck. The city itself is not really beautiful, but there are beautiful things to see and do in the city. In addition, from Taipei you can do fun day trips to include Jiufen and Geopark Yehliu.

Traffic in this city is very chaotic with lots of cars and mopeds. However, the city has a good public transportation system with different metro and bus lines. With high-speed trains and regular trains, you can easily reach other parts of the country from the capital. In addition, taxis are cheap, but taxi drivers don't always understand English. That is why Uber is convenient to use in Taipei. By the way, Taipei is one of the few cities where Uber is permitted in Taiwan.

Some tourist attractions in Taipei are the Chang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum, various night markets and Taipei 101 Tower.
